Difference Between Pure CBD and Full Spectrum

images (2).jpg

Pure CBD contains just the phytocannabinoid, Cannabidiol (CBD). This is a compound that has been isolated from the cannabis plant and is used as a single molecule. This would be just like extracting vitamin C from an orange. There are other compounds within the orange that are beneficial, like fiber, B vitamins, calcium, copper, potassium, folate, pantothenic acid, etc., but we isolate out the vitamin C to use in skincare products and for other dietary needs. CBD is a very powerful compound on it’s own and several studies suggest that even without any other phytocannabinoids present, CBD works to encourage proper regulation of many systems throughout the body We would recommend Pure CBD for many conditions, such as sleep regulation, inflammation, immune system function, skin conditions, seizures, migraines, nausea, depression/anxiety, pain, etc.

Full Spectrum contains the full array of cannabinoids present in the cannabis plant. There are over 110 known cannabinoids but only a few that we have identified and know to be therapeutically beneficial. The ones present at levels high enough to be detected are CBD, CBC, CBN, CBC, and THC. The level of THC is below .3% making it negligible psychoactively, and also making it legal to use and sell almost anywhere in the U.S. Taking full spectrum is like taking a multivitamin or eating an entire orange for all of the effects. In some cases, this is beneficial, like for conditions stemming from CNS disfunction. The high level of CBD in Full Spectrum products will assist in keeping the THC from causing psychoactive effects, and may also aid in producing more receptors for the THC to work with, thereby keeping it around longer to do it’s job. That small amount of THC may assist in CNS function so is best recommended for tremors, muscle spasticity, low appetite, pain, mild anxiety, nervous system disorders, etc.

Many of the benefits overlap, so CBD, THC, CBN, and other cannabinoids are all beneficial as single molecules, and as a part of the “entourage effect” – using all cannabinoids together. One thing to note with Full Spectrum is that many companies sell it as a CRUDE extract meaning that it is less refined and has more inactive ingredients in it like plant fats, fillers, etc. Our Full Spectrum is REFINED and only contains ACTIVE ingredients like cannabinoids.

Interestingly enough, both CBD and THC have the exact same molecular structure: 21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms, and 2 oxygen atoms. A slight difference in how the atoms are arranged accounts for the differing impacts on your body. From what research shows, all cannabinoids can be beneficial when used together, and also when isolated out and used separately.

Introducing Color Up Theraputics

38081621_261382971165587_6703059693981401088_n.jpg

I’ve been wanting to find an amazing skincare line infused with high grade CBD oil for quite some time now! In my years’ long search, I was able to narrow it down between 3 companies, basing my decision on three main goals:

  1. Quality CBD Oil in therapeutic grade dosages

There are SO any companies claiming the beneficial effects of CBD oil, when they don’t actually contain ANY CBD! Not all hemp oils are created the same; some have Full Spectrum CBD, some have Pure CBD, and some hemp oils have 0 cannabinoids at all. I wanted a real CBD product, with high enough dosages to actually have a significant effect on my client’s skin.

  2. Customer Service
When working with any line, I wanted to be sure they had a professional social media presence, friendly and helpful brand reps, and are dedicated to making products as amazing as if I could be in the lab myself! When I got a chance to visit the Color Up Therapeutics HQ in Denver last year, they proved they were all that and more! I got to tour the lab, and even got some sneak peaks of new products they were working on. When I tried out the samples they’d given me, it sealed the deal. #besteyecreamever

  3. Price!
I wanted my clients to be able to afford the full regimen of products their skin will benefit best from, instead of having to save to buy just one product and diluting it with less effective products elsewhere in their routine.

Color Up describes our mission, our intention, and our values; it represents coloring up your life, coloring up your attitude, coloring up your choices, coloring up your chakras, coloring up what you eat – through foods, plants, and more educated choices. Our logo represents triangle breathing, a form of pranayama that focuses on relaxing the mind, body and spirit. It is a leaf cut into 7 intentional spaces; it is a symbol of health and wellness, a way to find balance and harmony, and a way to stay connected to mother earth and all of her offerings.

OUR STORY

At Color Up Therapeutics we believe that homeostasis is attainable. All of our products and services aim to evoke the body’s natural ability to heal and balance. Our process begins with the proper care and study of the plants that lend themselves to all of our creations, and extend themselves into all of our products and services. Our Reiki Masters and Therapists work alongside our Cultivators and Chemists to infuse our products with loving and healing intentions.

It’s here in Colorado that the magic begins, but it was decades ago that our collective love for plants, a more natural lifestyle, and the desire to heal ourselves from the inside out, began. As child athletes, we all experienced injuries, aches, misalignments, and emotional pains that needed deep healing. We all come from very different backgrounds, yet we found ourselves making the collective choice to find relief and healing in a more natural and wholistic way. Needless to say, when one of our dogs, Kali, had a series of illnesses leading up to a cancer diagnosis, we made the hard decision to keep her off of pharmaceuticals and instead chose a more natural route of healing. This included Cannabis in its many forms. We began her treatment utilizing high THC marijuana plants, but after noticing the intoxicating effects, switched to high CBD hemp plants and found the results to be powerful. We had such great success treating her, to include tumor and tremor reductions, pain and anxiety relief, and an overall decrease in inflammation throughout her body, that we couldn’t deny the truth – cannabidiol heals.

We began making CBD infusions for everyone who would try it. We gave it away as gifts to our friends with animals, we sent it out to our families, and we started implementing it into our diets as a health measure. Once we began experiencing the benefits ourselves, we realized that we had to help the world on a larger scale. In February of 2015 we created Color Up Therapeutics with the intention of helping others incorporate cannabis into a healthy lifestyle. We spent several years perfecting our formulations and testing our products before building our first CBD Wellness Center and certified cannabis lab in 2017. “

Q: What's the difference between a setting powder and a finishing powder?

A: Yes, there is a difference between a setting powder and a finishing powder! Setting powder is what you use to 'set' liquid or creme foundations. This helps to prevent product transfer from the skin to other things such as clothes, or your phone, as well as reducing the tacky feeling some foundations may leave behind. Setting powder is particularly important for those with more oily skin, as many setting powders contain mattifying agents to help control excess shine.

Setting powders come in both pressed and loose versions, and whichever you choose is simply a matter of personal preference. Pressed powders are typically a bit more travel friendly, but many brands now, such as Priia, have nifty resealable sifters to prevent loose powder flying everywhere after you take the container out of your purse or makeup bag. Setting powders are typically translucent or sheerly tinted, but if you still need more coverage than your creme or liquid foundation provides, you can opt for a powder foundation to set your makeup instead.

Finishing powders, in contrast, is intended to go on top of setting powder and all other makeup! Most finishing powders have a high level of silica, which refracts light and helps pores and imperfections appear smoother and smaller. Acne safe brands such as Priia, opt for rice, silk, and pearl powders to achieve the same luminescent effect without potentially clogging sensitive pores. Some finishing powders are translucent, and some are sheerly tinted.

Be careful with finishing powders however! When used incorrectly, they can cause flashback in certain lighting situations (think of all the photos of celebrities with white splotches across their face- misuse of finishing powder). Using a finishing powder to set your makeup can backfire under a camera flash, so be sure you are using your beauty arsenal properly. When used correctly, finishing powders decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as pores.
